Calling Warhammer Mod, How To Install

How do I use mods in the Steam version of XCOM 2 for the Mac?

Mods can be installed in two ways: either you subscribe to mods via the Steam Workshop (this will automatically install mods) or you can download mods from other sources and install them yourself.

Once you've installed a mod, you can activate it using the mod manager. To get to the Mod Manager, select the tab Mod manager in the options window before the game starts (this window appears when you start the game).

The full instructions for using mods can be found below.

Mod stability and compatibility

Most mods are made by amateur developers: many mods have not yet been carefully tested, and some can cause crashes or other stability issues.

Many mods are incompatible with each other. Enabling incompatible mods can cause the game to crash. If you plan to activate multiple mods at the same time, we recommend checking the mods' documentation for information on their compatibility with others.

Secured games and mods

You can add mods to secured games: you can activate mods and load a saved game that you started before activating those mods. However, we recommend activating any mods you want to use before starting the game and not adding them to an existing game.

It is Not possible to remove mods from a saved game: if you save a game while using one or more mods, you must always activate these mods if you want to play the saved game. If you disable any of these mods, you will not be able to load the saved game.

Install mods via the Steam Workshop

The easiest way to install mods is to subscribe to them through the Steam Workshop. Subscribed mods will be installed automatically.

Subscribe to a mod:

  1. Open the Steam program.

  2. Choose Library.

  3. Mark XCOM 2 in the list of games on the left side of the window.

  4. Choose Community hub in the list of links on the right side of the window

  5. Select the tab Workshop.

  6. Use the tab Search in the workshop for the search for mods If you want to subscribe to a mod, click on the button Subscribe to (“+” Icon) on the mod.

The next time you start the game, all mods that you have subscribed to will appear in the Mod Manager in Options window for the settings before the start of the game.

Unsubscribe from a mod:

You can also unsubscribe from mods via the Steam Workshop. It works like this:

  1. Place your mouse pointer in the tab Workshop via the tab Search and then choose Subscribed objects from the selection menu.

  2. A list of the mods you have subscribed to will appear. Click the button to unsubscribe next to a mod to unsubscribe.

Once you have unsubscribed from a mod, it will no longer be displayed in the Mod Manager.

Install mods you downloaded.

Mods can also be downloaded from sources other than the Steam Workshop. Then you have to install the mod yourself.

How to install a mod:

  1. Open the Steam program.

  2. Choose Library.

  3. Right click on XCOM 2 in the list of games on the left side of the window, then select properties.

  4. Select the tab Local files.

  5. Choose Browse local files ....

  6. The “XCOM 2” folder opens. Navigate to XCOM2Data / xcomgame / mods. If the "Mods" folder does not yet exist, you will have to create one yourself.

  7. Copy the folder of the mod you want to install into the "Mods" folder.

  8. Navigate to the file from the “XCOM 2” folder XCOM2Data / xcomgame / config.

  9. Open the file defaultmodoptions.ini in a text editor.

  10. At the end of the file add this line:

... where the name of the mod file is without file extensions. Example: is the mod name LW_SMGPack.XComMod, then you insert the line.

  11. Save the file defaultmodoptions.ini and close it.

The next time you start the game, the mod will appear in the Mod Manager Options window for the settings before the start of the game.

If you want to uninstall a mod that you installed yourself, you have to delete its folder from the “Mods” folder. You'll also need the appropriate line from the file defaultmodoptions.ini remove. Once you've deleted a mod, it will no longer appear in the Mod Manager.

Activate and deactivate mods

If you have installed a mod, either through a subscription in the Steam Workshop or because you set it up yourself, you have to activate it with the Mod Manager in order for it to appear in the game.

  2. The mod name appears on an icon in the mod manager. Click the red button Out next to the mod name to it A- switch on.

  3. The mod is activated the next time the game is started.

Deactivate a mod:

To deactivate a mod, open the Mod Manager and click the green button At next to the mod name to it Out- switch on.
