Minecraft Dungeons Multiplayer - How to Play with Friends

Minecraft Dungeons is fun, but the game is clearly designed to be played with friends in cooperative multiplayer. The game supports up to four players either locally or online, making it easy for players to get in and out of their friends' games. Difficulty also scales dynamically based on group size, meaning larger groups face tougher enemies. This is everything you need to know about Minecraft Dungeons multiplayer, including how to set up an online session, the details about crossplay, and whether the game has a split screen.

How to play with friends in Minecraft Dungeons

Minecraft Dungeons offers both local and online multiplayer. To play locally with friends, simply plug in additional controllers on the character selection screen. When playing on a PC, local multiplayer controllers are required as the game doesn't support one player on the keyboard and the other on the gamepads. Each player should be able to choose their own character before the game begins.

To play online with friends, select Online Play from the character selection menu. This will bring up a menu with all of your online friends, where you can easily take part in their game if a seat is available. You can also invite friends over to your party before starting the game if you want everyone to be together right from the start. After you have completed the Squid Coast tutorial level and reached the camp, you can invite friends from the game. Just drag the menu and select the Start Online Game option to invite friends to play. It's also worth noting that Minecraft Dungeons doesn't offer any matchmaking whatsoever, which means you can only play with people on your friends list.

Do Minecraft dungeons have a split screen?

Minecraft Dungeons does not have a split screen. You can still play with up to four people locally on the same system, but the camera is pointed at the party leader. The camera shrinks a bit to capture more players, but the screen is never split so you can't get too far away from player 1. If someone is too far from the first player, they will be teleported back to them.

Doe Minecraft dungeons have crossplay?

At the moment Minecraft dungeons don't have crossplay. Minecraft has been offering cross-platform multiplayer features for some time, allowing players to play together on multiple devices. In dungeons, however, you can only play with people on the same system. Minecraft Dungeons will be cross-played in a future update, but there is no release window for this update yet.
