Relaxed hair becomes curly when wet

Putting wet hair in braids to create curls

# 1. Putting wet hair in braids to create curls / waves

Has anyone out there ever used braids on wet hair at night to create nicer soft waves or curls in the morning? If so, how did you prepare your hair (that is, condish wash, let in, curl enhancer etc.) then how did you braid it? Fat braids, thin ones, or different sizes? I am very curious to see how that would work. Hopefully someone out there tried at least once

I read an article the other day about your hair at night doing the same way you would if you were on the way for the day products and all of it then braid. The woman in the article used 2 braids on each side of her head and her hair was a little past shoulder length when wet. When she got up in the morning she diffused the braids a little then took them out and of course her hair was beautiful. One squirt of hairspray and she was gone. Dang it!
Anyway, if you guys have any good advice for me please let me know. Many Thanks

Well, I've tried doing two tight braids before and I've got weird fat frizz that looks ugly and I tried looking out for a soft look, ugly and frizzy combs. I tried French braid (s) that didn't have much to do with. However, a loose, damp braid at night preserves my natural curls for the morning. It doesn't change my curl pattern though.

Curls and proud (:

This was a single braid to braid my hair out. I just wet the hair, a blob of conditioner, and let it air dry. When the hair is dry, just fluff it out at the roots with your fingers and carefully separate the ends so it doesn't get too frizzy.

My bantu knot from here was done with a total of three knots (two in front and one in the back - my hair is thin). Again, I only have conditioner and a little shea butter. It turned out to be looking a lot like a roller set.

My brackets: Mane n Tail (cowash), Garnier Fructis Sleek n Shine (leave in condish), grapeseed oil or shea butter (sealing), Organic Root Stimulator Elasticitea (leave-in condish - keep light)

I usually wash my hair, put all of my products in it, then braid them into about 6 to eight braids, and sleep on them. when i feel like not washing, i just wet, untangle and braid. The bigger the braids, the bigger the wave. also, the more braids you have, usually the smaller the waves. To avoid frizzy undefined looking roots I usually stack my braids. like if I parted my hair in four quadrants, I wouldn't do a braid per quardrant because the roots wont have a wave and will look frizzy if I undo it (on myself). I'll divide that into an upper and a lower braid for better definition and root curl

Wow how sad. I was hoping this would work. The hair of the woman in the article came out beautifully. It shows. By the way Xodevin, BekkaPoo and 2NV Curls each you have fabulous hair. I'm so jealous. (Sigh)

I would suggest trying a flat twist. It's like a 2-stranded French braid. IMHO the twist pattern helps avoid the weird crimpyness that can happen with braids. There are videos on Youtube on how to do a flat turn.
I tried 3 twist outs last night. The more you do, the tighter the curls. I ended up with waves that had a pretty tight pattern, but not super tight. You saw of course. They weren't really my thing on my hair, but I thought it would be awesome on someone else.
Hope one of the sets mentioned in this thread works for you.

THANKS. I am sure your hair is too big

# 11. question for you

Everyone tells us not to touch hair after products, so when you do your braids on damp hair, how do you avoid getting frizz like your hands are in your hair?

Oh and I think braids help you get this up and go type of hair. When I wear my damp, washed in front of not-too-long hair in a loose braid before bed, I wake up, take the braid out, sometimes fix my part and leave. You never know
